Default Whate Water Rated Pontoon boat

"Padishar Creel" wrote in message ...
I am in the market for a new/used pontoon boat for fly fishing and running
class III sometime IV rapids. My wife is interested in joining me in fly
fishing some of the more interesting waters and I wanted the safest craft
available with the normal caveat of I can't spend thousands on getting it.
I am looking at about $500 if at all possible.

Any suggestions?

Chris

This probably doesn't apply to you (budget $500)
but it's related. I'm working on plans for a solo driftboat.
....can't believe I didn't think of this years ago.
The key inspiration happened when I read that west coast
steelhead guys were using 24 and 36 volt Minnkota trolling
motors to hold big 17' aluminum driftboats.

Trolling motors have come a long way (power wise) in the
past few years. So, it occured to me a tiny, ultra-light
one-man driftboat would fly, with a motor like that.
With foot operated controlls, you could stand up,
steer with your foot and fish all the same time.
Add an achor and optional oars, for shallow or extra-heavy
water and you'd really have something.
I'm about 2 weeks away from the shakedown cruise.
I'm excited about this. Now I can fish big water any time
I want:
