That is a nice size fish. Sounds like the first smallmouth bass I ever
caught. Last year while fishing in Manistee for salmon, I caught a 4"
smallmouth on a 3/4" oz little cleo spoon. Needless to say, the entire
treble hook was firmly embedded in the mouth. I could not believe that fish
could open its mouth far enough to inhale the hook. After a few careful
minutes, I was able to get the hook out and release the fish unharmed.

Hook sets are free!!! Use them, Ok I have to go back to the grass in the
morning. There are bigger fish than the 4 pounder there. Glad you got
one...and on a jig no less... go figure. Awesome wasn't it?
It's always awesome..the worst day fishing is still better than the best
day
working..unless you work in a strip club then well, that's a tough call.
Maybe you could put a lake in there.
Today I landed a WHOPPING 2oz bass...if that. Maybe 4"..never seen one
that
small before(now if I only had a nickle for everytime I've heard that).

Took about an hour this morning to get a feel for the Yozuri that
Randy
told
me to buy. Well, thanks to Randy, I landed a nice two pounder.. I
say
thank you because he told me something to NEVER forget..if you feel
weight,
set the hook. Well, I was crawling a jig along the bottom very slowly
and
it felt like I fell off a rock but just had some pull.. SNAP, I set
the
hook and watched it turn and try to run.. For the size, it was a
decent
fighter but nothing like that great one Randy has yesterday.
OH yeah - on the yozuri, I don't love it, I don't hate it..once I get
a
better feel for it I'll be able to better decide..
I'll post the pic on ABPF soon.
