organizing tackle boxs
I doubt, but hope you will find a good answer will beat your own knowledge
and need. I have seen this consternation questioned many times and the same
line of answers come up, usually of no help, because they are of an
individual need or method of fishing.
I have the same basic problem relating to your need, "I just can't bring my
self to leave any behind". I travel a minimum of 500 miles to fish for a
week to 2 weeks at a time. The information obtained from the sites is
usually "old stuff" or "warped" so I feel I have to drag along most of what
I have to fit the occasion. I have gone the route of buying lures when I
get to the area which has led to the glut of stuff. I have found in a
majority of cases it does the seller more good than it has done me, not to
count the waste of time. I end up using what I already have with better
success.
I have a large softside bag with the large boxes in it and ample pockets on
the sides. I have two other medium sized plastic boxes that I have stripped
the not-so-worthy trays out and have them filled with the large to medium
sized plastic boxes and bags of soft baits. In addition, I have a box of
lines and a separate box with spinner blades and related parts I throw in
the baggage area of the vehicle and some extra boxes of spare lures I stick
in the corners of the boat lockers. Many of the specialty lure bags and
boxes I find take up more room than I can spare to share with the rest of
the needed equipment so I can not justify that method. Further, I try not
to peruse lure sections of stores and catalogs because I know I have more
lures than my knowledge and expertise can use.
My other back of the mind thought is to buy a house and a large garage on a
specific lake and leave the "stuff' there and then I could take out only
what I intend to fish with for that foray.

I decided to re-reorganize my tackle and the more I stare at it the more
confused I get.

better systems than I've got but what are they and who's got them???
