Default Strange fish seen last evening

probably a Duskystripe Shiner. Look them up in a google search and I
bet that was it.

While I was out fishing in a southwestern Ohio man made lake (a creek gorge
with a dam), I saw a strange fish jump in front of me. These things jump so
fast and you really are not focused in that it is difficult to tell what it
was. Anyway, it was about 15 inches long and perhaps 2 inches thick. The
bottom of the fish was a reddish brown color. The midsection was very
white, and the top was somewhat blueish. No, this is not a joke and it is
not a 4th of July red/white/blue fish. :-)

If I had not been so close to see the colors, I would have said it was a
carp. The colors were very vivid though. Maybe someone has let go some
"coy" (carp family) go into this lake. The head just did not look like a
carp. It was shaped more like a bass. The reddish brown reminded of the
color you see on the front chest of a drake mallard.
