IMO, a 4wt would be fine for hauling in 10, 12, 14" small stream
smallmouth and trout, but would be too small for throwing the #6
streamers, buggers, and such, that are so successful on smallmouth. I
prefer a 6wt for this reason, and think a 5wt would be a good
compromise if you're looking to go with lighter gear.

That was my reasoning on the "maybe". I was hoping to get some input on
what he's going to be using the rod for before going into more detail. If
I were in that area, I'd be targeting much bigger fish.
