Default New Greese fitting

That area also houses the impellor, which does get lubricated with grease
upon installation. Maybe this could be a reason?

Could it be the grease fitting on the pivot pin?

I add oil to my lower units, not grease. Generally the front of the

lower
unit houses the intake for the speedometer.

I just put a new lower unit on my 175 Johnson. It has a grease

fitting
on
the
front of it. I assume it needs grease but my manual shows it in the
picture
but does not say to grease it, what it is for or how you know if

there
is
enough grease in it. Anyone know what it's for and how do you know

when
you
have put enough grease in. Thanks, DM
