Larry, you musta missed the discussions from a couple of years ago. The
authority on the subject hath proclaimed that there is no dry fly fishing in
the West after Labor Day. Sorry about that, but you still have a few days
left. Hope you like numphs and streamers.


I don't know who you're talking about, but it can't be me.
I said there was a 50-50 chance that the kickass dry fly fishing
would be over for the season by the third week in September at
the higher elevations (like the Henry's Fork).

Catch many fish on dry flies during that 'Clave ? Or did you
get snowed on ? ;-)

Most folks who fish in that area during the last half of September
either fish for browns coming up into the tribs of the Yellowstone
to spawn or head for the lower elevations (think the Missouri).
I do neither, I don't like to bother fish on their way to spawn
and I really dislike tailwaters.

You can find good dry fly fishing in late September, even into
October, at the lower elevations and on the tailwaters.
