OT- Good reason to support your local fly shop
It use to be in fascist and communist regimes the goverment owned the raido
stations. Under capitalism the raido stations own the goverment.

Aren't the Dixie Chicks, Springsteen, et. al. on tour at the moment
promoting something called "Vote for Change" or something like that?
I wouldn't know, really. However, a concert tour doesn't equate with:
"... Clear
Channel owns or operates 1,165 radio stations in the United States."
"It's also the nation's largest concert promoter and one of the largest
billboard
companies." (http://www.post-gazette.com/tv/20020...ar0623fnp3.asp)
So where's the oppression from the "right-wing media giants"?
Read the related articles in the links provided above and you'll get a
CLEAR CHANNEL
picture.
This thread started because Cabela's allowed Bush/Cheney to speak at
their stores.
That's right, and when Cabela's *invites* Kerry/Edwards to hold campaign
rallies at
the VERY SAME outlets it provided to the Bush/Cheney campaign, I will
withdraw my
complaint.
I don't see how that translates to big business and
industry preventing the electorate from voicing its opinions.
Think monopolization of media outlets!
Seriously, read the post-gazette link, and imagine that one far-left
liberal
corporation controlled so much of the nations broadcast media and
billboard
advertising.
"FCC commissioners and lawmakers have been particularly concerned about
radio
companies like Clear Channel Communications Inc., the biggest radio
station owner with
about 1,200, owning all of the stations in a market."
"'The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Philadelphia in June
stayed the
FCC rules and ordered the agency to use viewer data to amend the
regulations. Without
a detailed viewership assessment, the FCC cannot accurately measure media
diversity,
the court said.'
'The court said to get a consistent methodology across markets that takes
into account
the audience that uses news," Cooper said. "Making sure control of news
production is
not restricted to a handful of media companies is a key goal of the
agency's
regulations, and the court recognized that.'"
