Suggestion! Wrap the little polystyrene ball on a piece of condom. It
makes the bead waterproof. Much better than the old idea of nylon
stocking.

Condoms are too expensive for that. Get a box of latex gloves at the local
drug store and use them. You'll have a lifetime supply. I use them for
shell-backs on scuds.
