print, but there are probably a few copies left in the hands of TU chapters.
(I have three copies left and will not sell them - they're being held for
our auction this Spring). The Mass/RI Council is trying to get the book
revised and ready to print again within the year. There's a similar book
(from a TU Council) on fishing in Connecticut (very, very good) and Tom
Fuller has a book out on trout fishing southern New England that I hear is
good.

The OPs question about the Deerfield merits a response. It's a heck of a
drive for iffy fishing conditions. The best areas are the C&R areas and
vicinity for the first few miles below the Fife Brook Dam (which is just
north of the border in Vermont). I've caught trout in pretty much the
whole river down to the Connecticut over the years but the river really
warms up in the summer below Shelburne which makes for better smallmouth
fishing. The big problem with the Deerfield is that power dam in VT. They
release water (lots of it) on an unpredictable schedule. The power company
has an 800 number you can call to get the schedule, but people tell me it's
still a crap shoot. The river can be too high for wading most of the day
and it can rise unpreduictably and very fast as the surge passes the chain
of power dams. The conditions are good for the rafting businesses in Zoar.
