Once upon a time, I laboured under the quite obviously massive
misapprehension that anglers were gentlemen. This group has certainly
taught me the error of my ways.

The insults, and the flames, and all the other similar stuff here is
bad
enough, but what eventually simply wears one out, even just reading
the
stuff, is that it is mostly silly and boring, and has virtually
nothing
to
do with fishing, or with gentlemen either.

Most unfortunate, and extremely depressing to boot.

i agree. it's more difficult, day by day. the bitterness is
becoming
overwhelming. the disputes, long ago, seemed to be an invitation to
relatively respectful intellectual contests. but since 40 and wolfgang
have
sworn to bilious confrontations until the end of time, a sort of gloom
has
settled over the place, for me.

this place becomes more boring every day, for me.
