AfaIk there are sand smelt in the area but not cucumber smelt.

At times there are plenty of sand smelt round in Poole harbour along the
quay. This time of year there are large numbers just off the Purbeck
beaches, if we get a calm try coarse-style floatfishing with groundbait in
sheltered water around (for eg.) Hurst.
