Andrew, that is where I am at, about $1800 difference. I am definitely
leaning towards teh HPDI, but we will see how financing comes out , which I
will know tomorrow ....
Thank you everyone for your input so far, and Joe Z , I read the article,
thank you very much.

Hey guys,
I have a quick question to post here, I have a choice of 2 motors.
#1 2004 Yamaha VMAX 150 (Carb.)
#2 2004 Yamaha VMAX 150 HPDI
I am not sure which direction to go, The HPDI is about $1800 more, but
since
I am financing it my payment really wouldn't change that much, but what
do I
really get out of it. The Master Tech at the marina was very helpful,
but I
just wanted to get the opinions of some people I have met and trust :-)
Thanks guys,
Chris
I wouldn't think twice about it. HPDI all the way. It gets WAY better
mileage, both gas and oil. It runs smoother, will idle all day if
necessary, and has better mid-range torque, so it performs better when
climbing waves in really rough water. Only drawback is that it may prove
a
mile or two an hour slower in the top end.
As an addition, my fuel injected motor starts SOOOO great, it's not even
funny. Man, what an incredible difference over my old carb motor, even
when
it was brand new!
Thanks again to Steve Huber and others for talking me into paying extra
for
that motor. It was definitely worth the extra (which I was able to talk
them down to a $1500 difference)!!!
