A luxury tax is JUST what we need to battle the ogre of runaway
trendiness: regs on 50% of trout/steelhead/salmon water (including

50% of
the big destination waters) limiting the total *retail* value of

visible
paraphernalia (rod, reel, line, waders, boots, vest, clothing--forget
flies, tools, etc.) to US$ 1,000. We start with the SJ and the

Madison.

Boy what have you been smoking? The trend the past few years have been
for the reverse snob thing, first it was the KPOS, now it's Kreh
endorsed TFO and others, cheap breathable waders, anodized large arbor
disk drag reels for under $100. We now have fly fishing for the
unwashed masses!

Ifin ya want to cut down the crowding make the price point to get in
higher, there, as we all "know" anyone who fishes a cheap rod and reel,
and wears cheap waders is just one step up from a bait casting worm
chucker and probably throw their bud light cans in the stream just to
watch them float. Hell they probably even use loop to loop connections
and spend all day in the Kiddie Hole!

Therefore to achieve your goal, there must be cheap tax, your stuff's
gotta cost over a grand otherwise you have to go chase those trashy
smallmouths in some god forsaken muddy river in eastern NC.

Life's too short to fish crappy rods and drink cheap scotch.
Your friendly whore...
