I would still fight for the spinning combo. If someone that wins this
thing
doesn't know, or doesn't have the patience to learn how to use a
baitcaster... then they're not going to enjoy it anyway.
Why not a closed faced, say, Zebco 33-type combo? Easier than anything else,
especially for someone that may be new or inexperienced to angling. The
spinning combo represents the best of both worlds. Experienced folks would
appreciate it more than a Zebco and inexperienced folks should be able to
work with them with little or no practice.
This was my agrement for the spinning combo. They did not like the
closed faced option as the people in charge kept thinking it did not
look "good" enough ("too toy like" was the complaint). I suggested
the spinning combo as a compromise, not to mention that for $100 can
get a "respectable" set-up. They still insisted on baitcasting as it
looks more "expensive" - unfortunately, if I was bidding on it, I
would probably pass unless the rod or reel was worth it, but I am
biased.
