Randy,
A couple small lakes I used to fish in Minnesota sound somewhat like what
you have described and humbled us with pictures from. ;-). My best Fall
pattern was to drop the electric down and circle the lake throwing and slow
cranking baits like the Norman DD-22. I would fan cast out deep, parallel to
shore, and right at shore until I connected a few times. The big bill on the
DD-22 bounces off wood nicely. Then I would concentrate on similar areas to
where the bites came from, maybe switching to a Jig and Pig if it was a
specific structure or cover. On one private lake that I had access to my
biggest bass there (5-13 I will post a pic on ABPF) came when I fired a cast
straight out towards the middle of the lake to get rid of some loops on the
spool. 42 degree water temp that day. It hit a few feet down over 25 ft of
water.
I am off to Lake Sharpe on the Missouri tomorrow for smallies. They tell me
the big ones have moved off the deep points and are chasing smelt on the
flats. Joe Z.

Temp near the shoreline was 44, I know they have moved but even when I take
the boat out now all the fish are deep and almost all have been caught on
rattle traps, I think a good depth finder would help me a great deal. I'll
figure it out someday. I'm just missing those t-shirt and shorts mornings,
man the summer really flew by :-)
