Hey, we need to talk. I've got to get started on the plaque awards for the
Classic, so I'm going to need a list of what positions you're going to
recognize, such as, a 1st, 2nd, 3rd. each day, or just an overall 1st.
2nd.
3rd. and Big Fish? We need a "sponsor" listing on the website page. Maybe
contact Joe for the graphics of the sponsors from last year? I know we'll
have Little Bill's Trophy's and Dean Sellers Ford again, plus I'm bringing
in a huge net mfg. named "Ranger", and possibly a local tackle mfg. here
to
supply us with a new type culling system. Any suggestions at this point
please let me know. Call me if you need...248-505-2902

A little contest for all those attending and who can't attend the
Southern
Classic on Okeechobee in April. The winner will recieve a $50 gift
certificate
from Pro Bass Shops, courtsy of Moe's Guide Service. Much like the FLW
or
BASS
this will be a fantasy tournament. You will pick 5 angles from the
Classic
list
( Use the link to my site below and click on the Southern Classic). The
winner
will be the contestent who's "team" finishes the highest in points.
Ties
will
be broken by total weight in pounds and ounces. First place angler will
recieve
100 points, second 95 , third 90 and on down the list. Anyone may enter,
but
you may enter only once. All entries must br recieved by April 15th (
Tax
Day
LOL) . Any contestant not entered to fish by that date, but who fishes
the
Classic, will not be counted and any entry sent in after the 15th will
not
be
valid.
Now for some insight on the anglers - as Moe sees it --- ROFL -- I
haven't
included every angler and may add as the tournament approches. These are
not my
picks, just some inside info for you.
1. Moe -- Now you might think this guy would be the favorite on his home
lake,
but the idiot has spent the winter in NY. What kind of fool is this?
Still. I
think he may catch a fish or two. If he doesn't drop into the guide
mode,
stays
away from the wine, women and song ( A heck of a singer I hear), he may
be
a
force to recken with. I don't think he will be on the top of his game
for
this
one, I hear he likes the bottom.
2. Steve Huber -- Another guide who may drop into that mode, heck he
can't
even
score on his home lake. Huber has been know to catch a fish or two ( he
likes
throwing keepers back) but his preoccupation with the gators will get
him
in
trouble here. Look for Huber to finish well back in the pack.
3. Pat G -- A real sleeper and I do mean sleeper. Pat will fish his
heart
out
but snooze half the day away. Lunch may be Pats big downfall. The 12"
limit
will benefit Pat this year, he gets to throw all those 5" er's back and
have
his picture taken with a real fish.
4. Jerry B -- May be my pick as the overall winner if he stays sober.
This
old
boy can catch fish in a sewer drain, which explains why he hasn't scored
to
well in past classics -- they are all on real lakes. Jerry has the
patience to
fish slow, a sure winning presentation on Okee, but 3 cast in 2 hours??
Still,
if Jerry wiggles his worm just right we may see a new champ crowned.
5. Joe H -- If the spinnerbait bite is on, Joe will bring a ton of fish
to
the
scales. If not, Joe can fish soft plastics with the best. His past
experience
on Okeechobee is a plus but don't count on him getting to the scales on
time.
Send out Search and Rescue for Joe, he needs a new watch.
6. Sean B -- Sean will spend to much time chasing the Okee women around
to
be
much of a factor. A killer fishermen but the ladies man will do his last
Tango
On Okee. If he does catch one of the local women, look for an early
finish
by
Sean.
7. Doc P -- The former Float Tube King and now Tin Boat King will do
well
on
his now "Home Lake". Wind may be his downfall in the little tin boat but
don't
count him out and don't call him late for any meals. Doc will be an
excellent
host and let others finish in front of him. Don't make him mad though,
he
can
turn in a second and lay a 10 pounder on you.
8. Dan D -- Dan spends way to much time greasing up his hair and all
that
excess oil will spoil the bite for Dan. Look for Dan behind the camera
and
behind the field. But wait, Dan could be a sleeper here too -- not
9. Jim L -- Another northern want-a-be, get a life Jim and for God's
sake
leave
that 4 pound test home. A great smallmouth fisherman will try his hand
at
some
true Okeechobee hogs. I know for a fact Jim may be the only angler that
scares
me here -- you ever see him?
10. Warren W -- This is not Boom Lake, don't expect this excellent sight
fisherman to be skunked here. Warren's flipping abilities may well
benefit
him
here but the grass may be a factor. A one time Florida resident, he
didn't
have
enough sense to stay -- don't believe I said that -- but his memory is
good and
unless his boat sinks he will be in the hunt. Look for Warren to try and
kiss
Sean this year, I know he wants him.
11. Randy -- Randy is due, Randy is past due, Randy is Overdue, Randy is
done.
Another story will be born.
12. Harry -- What can you say about Harry? An excellent fishermen who's
time
has come --------- and went. I fully expect to see Harry with a daily
limit at
the scales, to bad they are all Bluegill.
13. Charles S -- The catfish king will do well on Okee as the lake is
full
of
cats. Charles wants a hog so bad he can taste it. I think bacon may be
his
downfall. And yes Charles, Roland does fish on the lake.
Well, that's all for now. I will add to my list as I go along. You
decide
who
the top 5 will be and good luck to all.

The most precious thing we have is life, yet it has absolutely no
trade-in value.
