Please note: There have been some very, very suspicious characters
hanging out around the Rte. 36 bridge. They have been approaching lone
anglers and offering to show them where they just caught a big
(usually 24") rainbow (which gives away their stupidity). One of the
suspects is very large with graying hair and a beard. He wears
neoprene waders that look several sizes too small and is usually
carrying a big ol musky looking spinning rod. They offer to walk
anglers down to the railroad trestle where we are convinced that their
partners in crime are laying in wait. Once they are turned down, a van
drives up and picks them up. There has also been a pickup truck
involved a few times. These guys are up to no good folks and we are
very afraid that they are looking to hurt someone. DO NOT fall for
this....they are not anglers...they are criminals and if we are not
careful, we may be looking at a tragedy on the river. Let's all be
safe and look out for these folks. If you see them, please contact the
game warden or Champaign Co. sherrifs department immediately! The
officials have been notified and are on the lookout but they can't be
there at all times. Let's get these guys and show them that the river
belongs to honest, law abiding sportsmen and we won't let them pull
this crap. Please be safe!
