I bought it! New Calcutta Computerized reel
I hate single men... just kidding of course, but there may be a touch of
envy here somewhere.
Be sure to give us a report on how well you like it, when you finally get to
use it. Not that I'll be rushing off to order one... still have three kids
at home, but I'm interested in knowing.

Hi guys,
Well, I went off the deep end and ordered a new Shimano Calcutta TE DC
reel
today. I also ordered a 7' Kistler Helium rod to put it on. I'm using a G
Loomis 7' rod with my Stella 1000, but I've been reading some nice things
about this Kistler rod and thought I'd like to give one a try.
There's still several inches of ice on the lakes here in southern Indiana
so
it may be a few weeks yet before I can test it out. I'm putting Power Pro
6/20 on the Calcutta. I have Power Pro 4/15 on the Stella.
I bought the 201 model which is "left" hand retrieve. I had a left hand
retrieve reel years ago and it was fine. It did take some getting used too
though. The only time I really noticed a difference was when using the
outfit for worm fishing. You just get a certain feel for twitching the rod
in your left hand. I remember it taking some time to get that same "feel"
right handed.
I mentioned in a previous post that I only used the Stella/Loomis outfit
last year for all of my bass fishing. The addition of the Calcutta should
allow me a lot more options. My skill level isn't nearly high enough to
warrant having special rods/lines/lures for specific types of
presentations.
This should make a decent worming outfit and a very nice rig for throwing
lures.
I've got about $800 a piece in these two outfits which seems like a hell
of
a lot of money, but it's probably no more than the cost of the dozen or so
rods and reels that many of the better anglers have laying around.
If this outfit is anywhere near as good as the Stella/Loomis combo, it
will
be worth it. And besides..... you can't take it with you :-)
I'll let you know how I like the "left" hand retrieve and how the combo
performs as soon as the lakes thaw out.
