". I wondered if anyone in the Hull area could recommend some fishing
spots
for me and perhaps advice me on preferred tackle and bait also what fish
are about at the moment.
I expect to be down week commencing 20th Sept and look forward to meeting
some fellow anglers.
I vaguely recall reading somewhere about a spot near Macro's, but that's
all I can remember, perhaps someone could point me in the right
direction.
I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions, so thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Marty.

Hi, I live near Hull but have never fished so far up the river. Yes,
people do fish along from Makro, but I believe that vehicular access has
been blocked off now. I have seen people accessing the river behind the
docks, but this will difficult to find unless you know exactly where you
are going.

A better bet in my opinion would be to try the village of Paull to the
south of the docks in Hull. At the far end of the village (just going out
the far side by a big radio mast, & just before Fort Paull) is a car-park
right on the river side. This is a very popular angling spot, with the
deep water channel fairly close in at this point. Most catches at this
time of year seem to be flatties from here, with the majority of people
using lug. The bottom is soft mud, with rocks right up underneath the
car-park edge. A good bet for bait & more detailed advice is Hedon
Angling Centre in the next village along from Paull (Hedon).

If you feel like more of a drive to the coast itself, then try Withernsea,
Holmpton (bit of a clamber down the cliffs), Kilnsea or Spurn Point.
According to the reports http://www.netmorefish.co.uk/sea.html, cod, bass
& flounder are all being caught, with the odd whiting & dogfish. Flatties
are somewhat rarer unless fishing off Spurn.

Hope this helps, & enjoy your trip,

Ian Sutherland

Macro has become a very popular venue. cars can get there just need to park
alongside the road with a short walk .. but the fishing can be good.
