Default If you had but one fly to take on a trip...

Girdle Bug for me -- I have caught one steelhead, numerous trout, whitefish,
smallmouth bass, largemouth bass (okay is was only 1/2 pound, at most),
crappie, bluegill, and a few perch.

Much underrated--or forgotten--fly. I've settled into a rut when it comes
to tool flies, usually opting these days for a tungsten-headed Prince in
#12 or 14, or a #6-10 stonefly nymph (often a quasi-Kaufmann's but usually
a Brooks). I need to be remembering the girdle bug more for this
purpose. Many days a stone killer on the Deschutes.
