For the boys in the North
While ice fishing, do you use traps or short jigging rods? I've always
used traps, but am intrigued by the rods. Thanks
By traps, I assume you mean tip ups? A device that has a flag that pops
up to alert you that a fish has taken the bait? Here in Wisconsin, we're
allowed 3 lines, so it's legal, and done all the time, to set out two
tip ups and jig with a short jigging rod.
What would you like to know about jigging rods? Other than the fact that
they're a riot to use
Yep, tip-ups...aka 'traps' here in Maine. Except for certain species, we
can have 5 holes. Just so happens I am down to 4 traps, so I have a good
excuse to buy a jig. And by 'riot to use' I assume you mean fun? LoL
I'm guessing it's more efficient than a trap. Many times by the time you
get to a trap the fish has taken a ton of line and/or has swallowed the
bait.
