Default For the boys in the North

While ice fishing, do you use traps or short jigging rods? I've always
used traps, but am intrigued by the rods. Thanks

By traps, I assume you mean tip ups? A device that has a flag that pops
up to alert you that a fish has taken the bait? Here in Wisconsin, we're
allowed 3 lines, so it's legal, and done all the time, to set out two
tip ups and jig with a short jigging rod.
What would you like to know about jigging rods? Other than the fact that
they're a riot to use

Yep, tip-ups...aka 'traps' here in Maine. Except for certain species, we
can have 5 holes. Just so happens I am down to 4 traps, so I have a good
excuse to buy a jig. And by 'riot to use' I assume you mean fun? LoL
I'm guessing it's more efficient than a trap. Many times by the time you
get to a trap the fish has taken a ton of line and/or has swallowed the
bait.
