Here in Northern Illinois the ice is almost completely gone from the

rivers.
Only about 8 ft of shore ice left in spots of fast current. Thin ice on

lake systems is too scary to go out on. Temps in the 40's and 50's for

next 4 days. Open water below dams on the Fox River is just right for me
this weekend.


With almost 4' of ice, they're still driving trucks on the lakes up here.

We only had about 40 days of below 32 degrees weather here. The ice on lakes
is about 8 to 12 inches and less. Most all our snow is gone. Forecast looks
good. Even saw geese heading north at high altitude today at noon. Looks
like the big thaw is heading our way. I for one am glad to see it come.
