Mating season has started early this year. Doc

Hi Doc and the group, beautiful spring time seems to already be here
in central florida. The nice weather, smell of pollen in the air,
birds trying to make a nest in my kayak and gator love.

Got a little story for ya. A few years ago I was exploring lake Jessup
north east of Orlando when I decided it would be interesting to beach
the boat on bird island in the middle of the lake and see what was on
the island. Got out and was walking around the island and was amazed
at how many birds where nesting - they don't call it bird island for
nothing ;-)

When I was quite a distance from my boat and could not see it anymore
I heard a sound that can best be described as someone trying to rope
start a small outboard without getting it to fire. Oh no I thought to
myself someone must have seen me come ashore and was trying to steal
my boat. I raced back to the boat and found no person there but there
was a large male gator singing love songs to my Gheenoe. Must have
been the camo color gel coat. He was in love and wanted my boat!

Somehow I was able to get the gator to go and try to find love
someplace else.

I remember getting into the boat with a wary eye on Mr love gator and
thinking to myself, Yamaha - this would be a real good time to start
on the first pull, I don't think making that sound would be a good
thing now. It started and I was out of there.

It was one of the strangest encounters I have had.

Take care, DC
