Early Spring Pond Fishing
One of the best lures for fishing cold water is the jig-n-pig. This time of
year I still use a 3/16-ounce jig and a #101 Uncle Josh real pork chuck.
I cast it to visible targets and let it fall to the bottom on a semi tight
line (watching the line like a hawk for any movement or sudden slack). If
it makes it to the bottom, I twitch it in place for a few seconds and then
slowly drag it in on a very slow steady retrieve. I also use a 3-1/2"
tubebaits as well and both are very effective for fishing the cold waters of
this time of year.
