While we're on the subject, kindly refer to Title 10, Section 10-219 of the
Municipal Code of Ordinances for Dyersburg, Tennessee:

10-219. Proud bitches to be confined.

Every owner of a proud bitch is required to confine her for twenty-four (24) days
during the time she is proud. Every person violating the provisions of this section
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to a fine under the general
penalty clause for this code. In addition, any person working under the supervision
of the public health officer, the chief of police, or the rabies control officer
shall be authorized to destroy any proud bitch found at large in violation of this
section. (1978 Code, § 3-219)

While I've never been able to confine mother for any period of time, much less 24
days; thankfully, mother doesn't cross the state line, into Tenn. that often, and I've
never known her to be all that proud.
