Over the winter I started dabbling in trying to make handmade crankbaits.

I
have already carved out 4 different bodies. All from balsa. Now I am sorta
stuck and don't know which way to go.

I am having a hard time with painting. I don't know the best method for
attaching hooks. Balsa is hard to work with in the sense its easily

chipped.
Is there a better wood for the begginer? Also is there any good info on

the
internet that any of you could point me towards?

I want to try and keep it simple as possible. I would like to keep it one
piece. I have seen some stuff on two peice. Two piece seems a little

taxing
for someone like me just starting out. As far as painting I have heard a
urethyne coat is best to start with. Well crap I don't even know the best
method for putting on the lips. Help! THis is something I really want to

do.
