Having retired our donkey Carlos from riding, I'd been bugging a
friend of mine to sell me his old decrepit buggy that he never
used. He finally relented this fall, and on with a couple of minor
outings to assure me Carlos wouldn't go crazy, we trailered down
to an annual Jan 1 ride-and-drive get-together that friends of
ours host. Carlos pulled us 6 or 7 miles around the valley farmland,
walking, trotting, even loping along when we needed to catch up.
Sitting in a buggy, in no hurry and enjoying the conversation of
a friend visiting from Phoenix is a wonderful beginning to 2005.
