A meaner, cantankerous, stubborn animal has not been born than loyal,
hardworking knowledgeable mule.

Brings back a host of memories. I had the dubious pleasure of riding
several dozen horses from the mid 80s through the early 90s. I rode
virtually every day in 1991. I also drove a team of horses hitched to a
covered wagon. I learned several things.
First; I would MUCH rather ride behind horses than on them. A pair of
large
draft horses pulling a wagon turned out to be much easier in terms of
technique than I guessed, and much harder physically than I ever imagined.
Second; despite being taken for a wild ride on the only mule I ever rode
when it once decided that the bucket I was holding in my free hand was
going
to eat it, I would, however reluctantly, trust my life to it or any of its
brethren (?) while on its back, before any horse I have ever seen. Horses
may be the only creatures on God's green Earth that are dumber than the
people who willingly ride them.........ask Superman.

or maybe it's the other way around.
