Let me add on. I was throwing this on a St Croix flipping stick. I set the
hook so hard it pulled the fish completely out of the water.

Ok, I have tried to maximize the hook ups with this bait as best I can.

I
use an over sized 5/0 Extra wide gap hook. It still blocks to much of

the
point section of the hook way to much. I lost a nice LM yesterday

because
of this. It only had about a 3/32nds of the hook point exposed when I

got
the bait back in the boat. The barb was not exposed at all. It wasn't

a
huge bass, but it would have made siz or seven places difference in our
finish.

I have considered switching to a tube, and that would probably be ok for
weighted applications like flipping trash, but it still won't solve
weightless problems since the tube doesn't have the meat to flip
weightless.

What type of rod and line are you using when throwing this lure? Big,
thick, heavy bodies require a rod with a TON of backbone and a line with
little stretch. If you only got 3/32nds of the hookpoint exposed, you're
not moving that hook hard enough in my estimation. Beef up the rod, beef

up
the line and I don't think you'll have that problem.
