Default What are the weirdest things you've caught while fishing ?

Not a personal catch, but a true story...

Some great reads here, Joe.
My grandad worked for both TEPCO and then TVA at Hales Bar.

Anyway, hate to pick a bone, but when you say:
"Spoons cast into the turbulent water around the boils often were
struck by hickory shad. These river herring were full of bones and
universally regarded as inedible, but when hooked they ran and jumped,
providing some excitement when the jack fishing was slow. "

These are NOT hickory shad, but skipjack herring, as you more properly
suggest in the second sentence when you say "river herring". Our famous
"Tennessee Tarpon".

best, and thanks for the read,
MM

You're right, MM. The last one I caught was while wading for brown trout on
the Caney Fork several miles below Center Hill. I'll go back and make that
change. Thanks for pointing it out.
