For one ignorant of the reproduction process of fish, I can understand your
concern. However, allow me to enlighten you, female fish have to expell
their (unfertilised) eggs into a suitable area and the male then produces
sperm into the water over the eggs to fertilise them, so.... dead fish do
not expell eggs, nor do they produce sperm.

missed something here, noone, least of all me has any intention of being
"humane" to a carp, OK?

Back to the question of killing them and sticking them back in the
river,
quite apart from the great advice of checking with your state fisheries
people, can anyone give me a logical reason why a dead carp can not be
returned to the river?

that we all know the facts, The NSW Dept of Primary Industries
indicated
that LIVE carp can not be used as bait, leading one to believe that
DEAD
carp can and also that DEAD carp can be placed back in the river to
feed
the
shrimp and yabbies.
