One of the incredible victories of political info spin of the last 3
decades is the Republican party's ability to garner the "family
values" banner, while harboring the majority of the most notorious
congressional child molesters, philanderers and adulterers of our
times. Between the ex-trotskyites magically transformed into
"NeoConservatives," Roy Cohen's devil spawn, and just plain deviants,
normal middle of the road, non fanatical Republicans have been driven
out of the party. They have been replaced by massed fundamentalists
looking for a way to feed at the trough, ideological woodenheads stuck
in time, and folks who assume that the GOP is still the respectable
moderate option it once was. I would bet you are aware of this stuff
and more, yet you soldier on, maybe not really a true believer, but
loyal to the end. Amazing.
