Default LLYN BRENIG FISHING REPORT WEEK ENDING APRIL 16TH

LLYN BRENIG FISHING REPORT WEEK ENDING APRIL 16TH

At long last the weather has finally warmed up at Brenig and anglers
have been treated to a good weeks fishing with fish finally starting to
feed on the top.
After a quiet start to the week things started to get busy from Thursday
onwards as the Easter bank holiday approached with Friday and Saturday
the busiest days of the week.
Despite the beautiful spring sunshine the wind has still been cool out
on the water but this did not stop anglers enjoying top of the water
sport, with Tower bay, Nantglyn banks and Hafod Lom woods among the most
popular spots. Bank anglers have also reported good catches along the
West bank and Watersports Bay.
The only competition of the week has been the Troutmasters fish off
which took place on Sunday. This is a bank competition and was fished
along the shoreline between the Sailing club and the dam. The winner of
this was Mr David Huxley from Ellesmere Port who weighed in six fish
for 12lb 10ozs, he now goes through to fish the final at Grafham water
on the 15th May.
Best fish of the week was taken by Colin Turner of Oswestry who landed
a superb 9lb 4oz rainbow whilst bank fishing near the dam, the fish
fell to an orange lure.
Another notable fish was taken by Scott Noble from Birkenhead who took a
six pound rainbow on a Cats whisker.
Top flies of the week have been various orange lures, cats whiskers,
boobies, black buzzers, black gnats, hoppers and olive patterns.
Two hundred and fifty five permits were sold during the week and of the
ones that were returned, showed a catch return of four fish per rod.
