I have read several theories and find that every one of them are
confusing in that they introduce undefined terms. If you understand
the theory, I would like to correspond in order to clarify the theory.

The theory is simple - the position of the sun and moon affect animal activity.

An old saying is it is always best to fish or hunt when the moon is above or
below you. If you look at a chart for the best times you will see this.

I understand most of the theory but no where do I see an explanation
of the major and minor periods and how they are determined. There are
other things but can you explain that for starters?

Do you really just want explantions of the theory, or do you want a
way to get wild fish and game? If the latter, pick one method and use
it religously, whether or not you understand it, until you've found if
it does or doesn't work for you. If it works, then try to figure it
out, which will be much easier once you've practiced it. If it
doesn't work, go on to the next method and give that a shot (at least
one fishing or hunting season for each method, btw.).

Frankly, this stuff is something like (closely related) astrology.
Theories abound. The ones that make sense may not work as well as the
ones that go by rigid rules but have no explanations that are worthy
of even reading, much less expounding. Yes, it's doofy, but just
work with it until you've got the knowledge base. Many things that
work don't _have_ a sensible theory or explanation. Sort of like
gravity before someone named and quantified it. But I doubt any
Newton's going to come along to do close theory on fishing and
hunting.

Um, might be wise to practice all the associated skills of the sport,
too. For example, it doesn't matter if you've got the figures all
set up for when deer will be wandering the woods if you walk like King
Kong or if you can't shoot straight or can't follow spoor.

I think I found something that half way explains Major and Minor
periods. In an article by Rick Taylor he says the following: "Just
calling the moon's overhead position "Major" strongly suggests it is
to be considered the best time to go that day, regardless of what
other influences may exist. " Does this mean that the Major period is
the moon overhead period and the minor period is the moon under
period? If so, what are the starting and stopping points? I can not
find that explained. Yes, some of articles say that the major is
about 1 1/2 hrs and the minor about 1 hr. but I haven't seen an
explanation as to how they determine the start and stop.
