SWMBO is going to be in Chicago most of next week attending ILA
and receiving Illinois' version of the Hugh Atkinson Award. (The
librarians will know what that means and how proud I am of her.)

So this presents a good opportunity for me and Kipper the hound
to get some use out of that Minnesota State Parks pass I bought
and do some fishing during the final days of the Minnesota trout
season.

We'll be at Whitewater State Park, probably in one of the walk-in
sites, arriving next Tuesday afternoon/evening and leaving at the
crack of dawn on Friday October 1. If you're in the area, stop by
and have a Bud. Look for an old gray Volvo wagon with Illinois
plates.

Fair Warning:
I have fished the area exactly once about 20 years ago, so I don't
know a damn thing worth relating about the fishing, and I'll be
fishing with Kipper the Hound who is not exactly the best fishing
companion. In other words, you can fish with us if you want, but
you'll probably not want to. Will have cold Budweiser and a bottle
of Laphroaig to share. In other words, you'll probably want to BYOB. ;-)

HEY !! Haven't you heard ? There's to be no more sly sarcasm and
gratuitous insult around here. You'll give poor Wayno the vapors
and Big Dale will issue his monthly plaint about how he just can't
possibly read roff anymore. ;-)

Gawd, I remember the good old days when Wayno's ad hominems were
witty, his insults were sublime and his name-calling was a thing
of beauty. But I guess he's getting laid now and has had to cut
way back on the see-throughs. Good for him, I suppose, but mores
the pity for roff, he was a lot more fun way back when.

well, forty, sublime insults are all well and good for buffoons you've
never met, and arrogant *******s who might profit from a little ego
reduction. but decidedly undeserved attacks upon men you have met, fished
with, and declared friends, or those who have never spread dissention within
these ranks, are not my style. to my great disappointment, that style has
become your trademark.

We have different definitions of friends. My friends, even the
long distance ones, know my daughter's name and I know the names
of all their kids. My wife keeps track of the birthdays, anniversaries,
first Communions, Bar Mitzvahs and we travel to weddings in far
off places to be with friends and the kids of friends.

Your style has changed in the seven or so years I've been reading
your posts. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I once thought
you were a nasty, smartassed junk yard dog ;-), but your style has
changed. And btw, I think you must have hurt poor Wolfie's feelings
something awful. It's not quite cricket to blame only two people
for what you perceive to be roffs going to hell in a hand basket.
You didn't criticize the only verbal belligerents on roff, only
the two who are pretty damn good at it. ;-)
