Silly question this really. am newish to fishing, tonight i caught a roach,
which i think is a fair size. But i have no scales to weigh it. so it was
about 10-12" long by 6" high chubby. Any ideas how heavy this size of roach
would be?

A foot long and six inches deep!?
It may have been a chub...did it look like this:

or this:

These are roach, thier tails are more orange than chub, whose tails are
greyish/silver.
A chubs front fin is this colour too, whereas a roach's is bright red.

I agree - dimensions are a bit odd but -if- it was a roach somewhere between
3/4 and 1 1/4 lb

But whatever it was, go and do it again ;-)

Hint: If you have nothing else you have some fishing line. Next time you
need to know exactly how long a fish is just cut off a bit to the same
length and stow it carefully 'til you get to a ruler.

So whatever it was, you'll have to go and do it again** ;-)

Cheerio,

** Any excuse will do.

Roach? Especially as it's still relatively early in their season?

You'd need to be -really- hungry to justify that process.

Cheerio,
