i've been checkin on it, on and off- went out in my nightgown, wading boots
(cause they were the most handy), and raincoat to check again- must have
been a sight!. couldn't see it though- too many clouds, and too much rain
:-(

i do remember last year's eclipse, though

I've been checking pretty regularly. Two minutes ago, the moon was still
completely occluded. Well, "completely" is a bit of a relative term. As a
matter of fact (and true to form) all of the moon is still clearly
visible........it's just not as birght as it is sans eclipse. This brings
to mind an interesting line of speculation. Conventional wisdom has it that
ancient peoples around the world were terrified by the disappearance of the
moon during total eclipses. Not surprisingly, this also held true of solar
eclipses and other celestial events beyond their ability to explain in what
we are pleased to think of as modern scientific terms. But.......as is
clear to anyone looking at a clear sky (in the right places, of course) the
moon actually doesn't disappear......or do anything close to that, for that
matter. One of the greatest and most common mistakes made by "modern"
humans is to suppose a naievite in their distant ancestors that has no
supportable basis in reality. It is no secret, for example, that despite
what many of us think today, the ancient Greeks, from whom we inherited so
much of our current Weltanschauung, didn't (for the most part) attach any
great significance (or any undue belief) in their own mythology......by and
large. So, what exactly DID all of these folks actually believe about
eclipses and sundry other unusual celestial events? Mind you, I am not
speaking of the idiots who understandably; if not necessarily forgivably,
invested credence in the pap their medieval eclesiastical overlords
brainwashed them with, but rather those fortunate individuals who preceded
such nitwits.

i do remember last year's eclipse, though

I take it the moon returned.......eventually.

Wolfgang
who is pleased to have met you and kim, and hopes to repeat the experience.

Pretty cool...it was supposed to rain in the DFW area, and it did, but the
clouds broke, and there it was...whodathunk pointing it out would have gotten me
a couple of big ol' kisses...of course, I'd have preferred they had been from my
darlin', but hey, Karl and Dick shore do have purdy mouths...

TC,
R
....aw, I'm just funnin' ya - Jenna, Babs, and Alex put on a show and gave me a
three-way blo...er, nevermind...
