When I left Kansas, I had hoped that Indiana would be a place to stay a
few years, even if it was a desert for trout fishing. Nice enough place is Indianapolis. We got a decent home at a decent price and the wife acclimated quickly. And what it lacks in trout, it makes up in transporation to trout streams in that I can be on my favorite waters (SW Wisconsin, N. Michigan, and the Appalachians) in a realatively easy day's drive. It has two fly shops and is really only lacking a decent gun store if you like upland birds and nicer shotguns most of us can't afford. But as luck would have it, I got a phone call at the end of June from an old friend asking me to consider something. After initially turning it down, a courtship ensued and next week I will begin working out of Kalamazoo MI. Easier access to trout streams (Grayling's *just* three hours away plus there are things closer), great lakes steelhead and salmon plus a good number of my friends live between Lansing and Detroit. Even tho I will be based in Kalamazoo, my initial area of concentration is going to be a small hospital in Dowogiac. If anyone is in the area or passing through, feel free to stop by and say hello. |
