Well, we're moving to Oregon. Before Penns Clave.
![]() be on the road before April 1. John, Wolfgang & Co., you'll have to find your own way to New Berlin for the Smallmouth Flotilla launch. Tom, Mike & the Hemlock Acres regulars, I'll miss fishing & hanging out with you guys when the opportunity arises. If anyone (Frank) wants to pick up a 10 pound loaf, the place to call is the New York Bakery in Frackville, PA - (570)874-3030 - they're right off of I-81 on the corner of 5th & Spring Streets. Mapquest should get you right to their door. You have to order in advance--it's best to give them at least 2-3 days if not a week. I'll miss fishing in PA with you folks, but OTOH I might get a chance to attend a Western Clave sooner than I expected. I'll be in the Tillamook area, so salmon & steelhead are on the schedule along with trips into the hills for trout fishing. My wife has relatives that fly fish, so I'll hopefully have a local to 'guide' me on occassion. It'll be nice to live at the beach again. Tom G -- email:remove tt |

Tom,
Some excellent steely and salmon fishing very near you. For sure, visit the Tillamook Cheese Factory (the cheese curd is great). Kauffman's Streamborn is in Tigard and if you head toward the Deschutes on Hwy. 26, stop at The Fly Fishing Shop in Welches and say "Hello" to Mark & Patty. The Salmon and Sandy Rivers are within 5 minutes of their shop and fish well for steelhead. When you head to Bend, let me know and I can get you in touch with an old GAP guy who couldn't take San Francisco anymore (another fly fish fanatic). Also, I should be on the Deshutes around the end of May for the 28th Annual Maupin Flop. If you are able to join our group at that time, I am sure you will think less of me and even less of the my fishing buddies. Oh, and as a side note, don't eat the mushrooms growing on the cow patties around Tillammok. Guy (stuck in Dallas) "Tom G" wrote in message ... Well, we're moving to Oregon. Good news and bad. Will miss you at Penns.
The good news is that life is a lot like fishing. The best opportunities are found in those transition zones. Moving cross country and setting up a new life is pretty fun (been there, done that, 16 times in 23 years). Always think of the new place as the most wonderful place you've ever been. With that attitude, you won't be disapointed. Mayhaps I'll get out there to fish with you. The stew remains the same, but clave will be ten pounds short of a loaf. Frank |

... Well, we're moving to Oregon. Before Penns Clave. ![]() be on the road before April 1. --------- Ah, you do realize that you will have to buy a minimum of 6 boats to actually call yourself a coastal fisherman! In fact, I would like to recommend the proper craft, in order of preference, to start your collection: Here are those boats, in order of preference: 1) 24+ foot bay, river and moderate ocean going jet/prop boat (Think Duckworth,Willie's Asaltor, Alumaweld) 2) A Driftboat big enough for you to row and for myself and bugcaster to fish - I need plenty of space say 17' is awfully nice, but I can be seen in a 16' footer 3) A pontoon boat (a really good one, so we can borrow it when go on Class IV rivers) 4) A car top pram (really nice for small lakes when you don't want to get wet) 5) A float tube (yep it is a boat in Oregon with all the rules applied -- Now where do I mount my mooring lights again?) 6) A Kevlar canoe (I really like to have one for really no reason, just they be cool) Chris |

If you haven't been here much ( Especially Tillamook bring your WD-40 and
your Ott lights for SAD sydrome) Here's a good site to watch if your gonna live in Tillamook Caters mostly to the guys who thow hardware and bait) http://www.ifish.net/ As for fly shop Kauffmans is good. Just make sure you have a some hundred dollar bills in your shirt pocket. If your in Portland I'de recommend RiverCity http://www.rivercityfly.com/. There are two Fisherman's Marine Supply stores in Portland, both have pretty fair fly shops and people who know what's going on. Rivers over there are going down - I'll check a couple out Sunday.
