Default Small Mouth Color

All of the smallies I have caught have been a deep golden bronze like the
ones in these pictures http://tinyurl.com/6yobs but the ones I have seen
caught on the river were all pale with distinctive markings. Almost spotted
like a crappie except paler of course.

What do the smallies you catch look like.

It varies. Most of the ones I catch on St. Clair or Erie are kind of
pale but not all of them. Many of the ones I catch "up north" seem to
be darker with more defined stripes.
