Default going fishing

I'm off to Clark's Hill for a two day club tournament tomorrow and
Sunday. Supposed to be much colder and windy - wonder if a Trap on
windy points will work? The bass had a big spawn there two weeks ago
but there should be a bunch on the bed this weekend with the full moon,
if the wind and cold don't change things.

I come home Sunday night and leave for Tenn Tuesday - by lunch,
hopefully. Are there definite plans for cooking yet? I can bring
several packs of bass filets if we are going to fry fish. Maybe a dozen
filets total. Will be glad to pick up some other stuff, too. Just let
me know.

I am bring a selection of Zoom soft baits - should have a pack of
something for each person if we are doing a grab bag.

Ronnie,

Good luck with the trip. I managed a few bass this morning. Air temp was 39
don't know what the water temp was but I could not get a fish on a senko to
save my life despite similiar conditions to the other day. All bass today
were taken in shallow water hiding away from the wind, cuts in banks and
under docks, all hit a watermelon speed worm, Good luck and see you soon

This weekend was awful - wind was 30 to 35 mph and lake was rough. Many
times while trying to fish in it my boat would dip water in front
-seemed ever few minutes a series of big waves would hit and about the
third one would make my boat dip a little water.

The way the wind was blowing into some bridge riprap I just knew I could
catch a big fish if i could just fish it. I managed to hold the boat
off it and laned and 11 pounder on a Fat Free Shad - big crankbait.
Unfortunately, it was a channel Charlie fish, not a bass.

I did get 8 keepers Sat and 10 today. Weighed in 10 at 22.61 for second
place. Guy that won hit a 7.16 yesterday and had five weighing 17.5. I
was 5 pounds back but he had only two today, I had one of two limits
today. Had 12 something yesterday and 9 something today.

I caught fish on just about everything but a trap. Most were on Carolina
rigs but got several good keepers on trick worms and one on a crankbait.
Also got my first keeper yesterday morning on a spinnerbait.

I am pretty worn out now - got up at 4 am last two days. Gotta get some
sleep before heading to Tenn Tuesday. Hope the weather gets better - it
was ridiculous wearing a snowmobile suite in Georgia in late April! Set
a new record low with 35 degrees last night.

I did catch most of my bass right out in the wind - around here bass
don't hide from the wind, they use it. If you can stay in it you can
often catch fish.

I throw a Trick worm weightless with a 3/0 offset wide gap gammy hook.
No swivel up the line or anything, just tie a hook on and thread the
worm on it.
