I can only hope whatever is after something tasty is on a low-fat diet.
Then I'll be perfectly safe.

But black bear is very good eating (says R.M. Patterson
in Dangerous River, 1953, highly recommended) and the
best source of lard for your pancakes etc.

Right! I wouldn't use bear lard for softening and weather proofing my
hunting boots...

What is the feeding behaviour of the tasty americans anyway? Big fat burgers? I dunno about the american bears but the swedish ones are true connoisseurs.

They're opportunists. What you see them eating is whatever happens to hang
out where you do.

Betcha a Swedish bear would eat garbage too.

When and where he or she can catch it.

Wolfgang
who, to the best of his knowledge, remains uncaught.

They'll eat pretty nearly anything edible. Nuts, berries, fruit,
small animals, garbage, etc.. Garbage is particularly good for them
(they think) because they don't have to chase it and it's got tasty
spices and stuff. It's also a whole bunch of edibles all in once
place. They won't much bother anything that looks big enough to cause
them any injury in the catching and eating, unless they're what are
called predatory bears. But you don't have to worry about them unless
you're in the way north. And you still don't have to worry much about
them, because they're pretty darn rare.
