Default HELP, what to do with 5yr old?

I have a 5yr old son that I would like to take fishing.... he has watched
his favorite cartoon caractors go fishing like "little bear and Franklin the
turtle" just to name a few.

The problem I have is that his attention span is next to nothing which is
typical for a five year old so I can't see loading up the gear and finding a
spot only for him to take-off and become uninterested after 1/2 hour
(that's giving him alot)

Do I find a fish farm maybe then he can catch something within a half decent
time, or do I try to find a spot at the local pond and see how long he will
last.....?

Anyone know any fishfarms around Guelph Ontario?

any help would be great, open for any ideas

Keith

Look in the yellow pages under fishing or trout farms. In particular the
Kitchener area near New Dundee!
Good luck!

I agree on the New Dundee trout farm (not sure that's what it's
called.). Take highway 7&8 towards stratford, past kitchener. Get off
on the Petersburg exit and go south. The trout farm is down a few miles
on the right hand side. Can't miss it.

However, at 5, what I think you'd be better off looking for is something
like rock bass, perch, crappie (maybe). Stuff that's super plentiful
and fun for kids to catch. IMO a rock bass is far more fun for a 5yo to
catch than a trout.

You can probably look into Belwood lake which I think is near Guelph.
Never fished there, but perhaps there's those type of fish. Or
investigage conestoga lake.

And resign yourself to the fact that you're looking at a 1/2 hour
installment. Fishing is really 'waiting', whereas kids that age see
fishing as 'continually reeling in fish'.

yeah I thought about going to the lakes but I am not sure if he can sit and
wait......I figured that a fish farm had a supply well stocked and it
wouldn't be no time before he was able to catch something.
anyways I have to first get him to be able to cast without chucking the rod
across the backyard LOL the fun suff now I know how my dad felt thanx again
guys for the info

You can spend a lot of time at a fish farm without getting a bite as well!
