Southern Classic
Pulled in this morning at 4:25 a.m after a 23 hour trip home. To describe it in one word....amazing.
We pulled in early Tuesday morning, and were a little early for our room, what's a group of guys from the Northeast to do? Fish of course, so me Harry and his brother Mike went down to the dock behind the hotel on the rim canal of this truly amazing lake, Harry and Mike both nab fish on senko's, I wasn't checking in until I broke the ice, about 30 to 45 minutes later a nice two pounder let me go ahead and check in. The place was beautiful and we slowly began meeting up fellow R.O.F.B'ers, some we have met before and some we met for the first time. During this trip between practice and tourney I had the oppurtunity to fish with many fellow R.O.F.B'ers including,
Jerry B, Shawn B, Drew, Steve H, Kevin(Heavy), Matt M(Aye), Doc, Moe, Joe H, Charles S. and Dave, Mike and Harry fishing with 13 different R.O.F.B'ers made it worth the trip alone, The conversation, food, tourney and all the sunshine you wanted was an extra bonus. The fishing was good and while I didn't land any hogs I did see a few pulled out, and also had a few on that never quite reached the boat : ) I also saw more fished weighed on day 1 then all previous Classics combined, But those details I'll leave for the others to post. I'm home safe and sound and have a pile of work to catch up to. I just wanted to thank all the people that made it possible.
Doc and Moe, for all the time and generosity, you should be applauded. And to all the boaters who took the time to bring non boaters out for fun and tourney fishing, every one of you that I fished with were the nice and courteous, almost all boaters were doing double shifts. taking out some people in the morning and returning to pick others up in the afternoon, giving everyone a chance to experience the fishing this lake offered up. Moe, Steve H and Jerry B, acted more like guides when I fished with them then actual fisherman, giving people who don't have an oppurtunity to throw a boat on a lake, an oppurtunity to catch some good fish. Something I won't forget anytime soon. You are remarkable people, and it should be recognized. Thanks again to everyone that attended and congrads to all the winners. I had a blast. Hope to see you all in Wisconsin.
