Streams in the Carbondale, Colorado area

I am considering a relocation to this area and want to learn about
quality streams in the area. I read that the Roaring Fork (flows
through town) is a good stream. Any information would be appreciated.

Terrific, year 'round fishing. The secret is the Fryingpan River (the
'pan). Lots of little streams, pothole timberline ponds, etc.

Take LOTS--OF--MONEY

Historical note, fwiw:

There used to be a great hot springs on the way up
to Carbondale, from Basalt, that had an enclosed tub
and 108 degree water. Took effort and concentration just to get in.
After sufficient soaking and substance abuse you could
open the door, take 3-4 steps and dive into the ice cold creek. And
then
back into the hot pool for more soaking and substances.

But the redneck miners blew the building up with
dynamite, in the late '60s, because they didn't like
seeing all the naked long hairs hanging around.

Fishing in the creek was good too, but for small fish.
I was in Basalt one weekend, when a visiting tourist
caught a 12lb brown out of the spring pool, at the
campground, right in the middle of town.

was 10 miles or so south of Carbondale, on the way up to the mine,
I think......it was a long time ago and I can't remember much.
