Default Resources for custom tackle

I've been making my own bucktails, soft plastics and now I want to get into
crank baits. I purchased some pre-painted stuff on closeout from stamina
lures and await the delivery. I am bummed because I sold my airbrush on ebay
last year because I had no use for it.... go figure.

I was thinking about getting pre-made blanks instead of doing the whole RTV
crankbait mold thing.

I was also thinking about making my own rods.

Where do those of you who make your own lures, rods, etc. get the best deals
and best quality components?

If you don't want to reveal your sources, I can respect that.

Dave,

A good source for much of what you're looking for can be found at
http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/ . They have a wide variety of lure making and
rod making components to go with any budget.

So, are you coming to the Northwoods Classic?

I would love to go.

It all depends on what Life (replece 'L' with 'W') throws my way, so far
it's been throwing roadblocks in front of all roads leading to the classics!

So that would be a definate maybe.

I've browsed jansnetcraft but never looked past the plastic injector. I'll
give it another look.

I've been buying stuff from stamina lures (just google it) and there's
barlows tackle but never purchased from them. I was looking at the deer
tails but stamina prices are better but that's worth another look for other
stuff.

Steve,

I see the St. croix blanks are probably the best "bang for the buck" blank.
They are in my price range. I have never used a st. croix rod and have heard
mixed feelings on them. I really like my BPS Extreme rods $99.00. What
blanks are those made with?

I've been there for a while Rodney. Great forum for the art of lure making,
etc.

I have respect for the opinions on this group, so I just wanted to throw it
out there. I wasn't sure if it was off topic, but because it is all used for
bass fishing, I figured it was ok.

Dave,

From what I've heard, the BPS rods are built in Korea, so I don't know who's
blanks they are. Of course, my source could be wrong too.

Anyone that knows me knows that I am a firm believer in St. Croix blanks,
building 99% of my rods with them. The Avid series I feel offers the best
compromise between price and quality, but if you'd like to spend a little
more, take a look at the Tournament series. More sensitive and lightweight
than the Avid, they're not quite as light or sensitive as the Legend Elite,
but more durable.

Interesting. I had heard the Bionic Blades on some of the other higher end
BPS rods were made by American Rodsmiths

They might be. But my source hasn't been wrong in the past.
