Its been a long time, but I was thinking of taking a trip up to Tahoe with
the family for a few days. I know Tahoe has some of the most restrictive
outboard regulations in the west. Would my 2 star Optimax be allowed on
Tahoe? Yeah, I know Tahoe can get a little rough for a bass boat, but I
figured to go for some early morning trolling for (shhhhh) for trout if I
took the cat.

Last time we were up there we took a 22' Bayliner Trophy walk around cuddy,
but I'm certian its engines will no longer will be allowed on that lake.
(basically a light offshore rig)

(Official bass content) Since the lake is known for its trout fishing I
figured I might have a chance at some relatively unmolested other species in
the feeders. I'm thinking late summer (Aug/Sept) as that water never really
warms up.

Bob, it's been a while since I fished up that way. Don't really know
about the motor size thing, but I was out in some pretty good sized
boats on Tahoe. As I remember it, we fished really deep...200' or so.
But I mostly fished the smaller lakes, and the Truckee. Enjoy the
trip...a different experience from the "river" .

By the way...congrats on your win, just read about it!

There are emissions requirements. I think the 2 stars are compliant.
http://www.trpa.org/
is the tahoe planning agency.

If you take the boat on Tahoe, plan for morning trips. Can get very windy
and nasty in the afternoon. You can launch at public ramps at South Shore,
and Tahoe city and a couple of other places. Couple of marinas have pay
launch. Meeks Bay is a nice one, and has camping also. Is probably the
closest to Emerald Bay. If you do, tie up to the island and do a hike.
August, should be lots of Kokanee off the South end near Taylor Creek.
