I went to news, groups and found a suggestion there by a Jim Riley to combine the rofb and the newly proposed robt. If you have read the proposal for the formation of robt you will see it's charter goes against the charter of rofb. Two points. I'm clear from Jim Riley's post that he was simply proposing a name change to the group from rec.outdoors.bassfishing.tournaments to rec.outdoors.fishing.bass.tournaments, *not* including the traffic on tournaments in that group. I did not read it that way. To me it was two points, the name change and a possible combination of the groups. OTOH, can you be more explicit about why such discussions would be off-topic in rec.outdoors.fishing.bass? From the group name alone I would expect them to be on-topic. They are not and would not be off topic in rofb but if you read both charters you will see the topics in rofb would be off topic in robt. You cannot guess a groups charter/FAQ by looking at the name alone. You must read the charter/FAQ to understand the operation of the group. www.rofb.org for rofb charter/FAQ robt charter basically states no discussions of tactics, personal experiences, personal stories, equipment, new equipment, modifying equipment, which do not relate to tourneys. ROFB was formed just for all those topics and more. Pulling up both charters and comparing them would help you understand better than I can describe it. It would be like combining a classic car group with a nascar group because they both are about cars or an amateur radio group with an antique radio group because they both use radios or a salt water fishing group and a Bass group because there are sea Bass and inland Bass. They really are dissimilar topics. john I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it! (The hell with my X-wife!) You should not combine a tournament only (bass) group with an open
discussion (bass) group. -- Bob La Londe Fishing Arizona & The Colorado River Fishing Forums & Contests http://www.YumaBassMan.com *** Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com *** |
