Default Budweiser at the World Cup

At least one ROFFIAN is well known for his love of Budweiser beer, so I
thought this might be interesting. I have been following the World Cup
Soccer tournament for the past couple of weeks. It is being held in
Germany, a country noted for its excellent brewing tradition. However,
Budweiser is the official beer of the tournament, and this struck me as
kind of funny. I was wondering what the German people thought of this,
and, well, here is the answer.

I hate the hyperbole. Bud advertises strongly with soccer, not just the
World Cup. But one reason I like Bud is because it's closer in style to the
German or Canadian beers than to all the ales which are all the rage. So
what if Bud isn't as good as the best German beers? It's better than most
inexpensive American beers, so why bother calling it the worst in the world?
Silly.

Just kinda hate.....or really REALLY hate?

Hm.....

Well, there's a LOT of German beers. A few self-styled experts have
suggested that some of them aren't exactly the same style as Bud and
Canadian beers. Plausible.....I suppose.

So what if Bud isn't as good as the best German beers?

Well, most of the time people in Germany have access to the best German
beers. Apparently that is not the case while attending World Cup events.

It's better than most inexpensive American beers,

Dancing dangerously close to the edge of subjectivity there. Anyway, you
suppose they might feel better about it if someone were to send over a few
million cases of Old Milwaukee, Pearl, Busch Light, Coors, Stroh's, PBR,
Schlitz, etc.?

so why bother calling it the worst in the world?

Maybe they've never had, and can't imagine, anything worse?

Silly.

Ainna?

Frankly, I'd rather have a Moose Drool.

Heck, I'd rather have a Bear Whizz.

Chuck Vance (Moose Drool is outstanding, and so much fun to
order: "Er, waitress, can I have some more moose drool?")
